Hyper-reoriented walking in minimal space

چکیده

Abstract We present a new reorientation technique, “hyper-reoriented walking,” which greatly reduces the amount of physical space required in virtual reality (VR) applications asking participants to walk along grid-like path (such as most common layout department stores). In hyper-reoriented walking, users gridlines with speed twice real walking and perform turns at cross-points on grid half rotation space. The impact technique participants’ sense orientation increase simulator sickness was investigated experimentally involving 19 labyrinth infinite size that included straight corridors 90° T-junctions end corridors. Walking accuracy assessed by tracking position head mounted display, cyber-sickness recorded questionnaire open questions. forward found closely match ideal path, is line, but slight errors occasionally occurred when turned T-junctions. A correction algorithm therefore necessary bring back gridline. For VR experiments paths 5 m length, tracked area 3 × 2 m.

Minimal and Hyper-Minimal Biautomata

We compare deterministic finite automata (DFAs) and biautomata under the following two aspects: structural similarities between minimal and hyper-minimal automata, and computational complexity of the minimization and hyper-minimization problem. Concerning classical minimality, the known results such as isomorphism between minimal DFAs, and NL-completeness of the DFA minimization problem carry o...

Minimal Walking on the Lattice

We undertake the first numerical study of a four dimensional asymptotically free gauge theory with dynamical fermions transforming according to the two-index symmetric representation of the gauge group. To be more precise we consider the simplest of these theories with interesting dynamics and phenomenological applications, i.e. a two color gauge theory with two Dirac fermions transforming acco...

Walking in Streets with Minimal Sensing

We consider the problem of walking a robot in an unknown polygon called “street”, starting from a point s to reach a target t . The robot is assumed to have minimal sensing capability in a way that cannot infer any geometric properties of the environment, such as its coordinates, angles or distances; but it is equipped with a sensor that can only detect the discontinuities in the depth informat...
